You've found Mr. Right. He's picked out the perfect ring and FINALLY gotten down on one knee.
Now, you're on the hunt for The Dress. Meg Guess Couture offers their advice to give you the advantage.

4 Things to Remember When Shopping for a Wedding Gown:

1. WHO TO BRING//Bring the people you absolutely need to make a decision. Those people should also understand what YOU are looking for and want to help you find YOUR gown.
2. BUDGET//Talk to any and all contributors and agree on a budget for your gown. Don't forget to consider if accessories [veil, sash, jewelry, etc] will also be included in the budget for your wedding day attire. Remember you will probably need additional alterations for a custom fit.
3. VENUE//Consider where your wedding is going to take place. Your venue can have a huge impact on the style of your gown.
4. TIMELINE//Couture bridal gowns take about 5-7 months to arrive. A rush may be added to an order for an additional and with approval from the designer. Meg Guess Couture often hosts a Sample Sale, with gowns that can be bought off the rack. Another thing to remember about ordering a new gown is alterations. This process can take up to 3 months.

Just a few weeks after Market passed, writer, Scott French, for the Fashion List did a piece on one of our favorite designers, Amy Kuschel! Here is a glance at what he had to say....

The Jumeirah Essex House

San Francisco based design house Amy Kuschel showed an absolutely beautiful collection for Fall 2011 that for the most part is an updated assortment of her best sellers from previous seasons with a few totally new “ladies” (this designer personified all of her dresses) for good measure. We viewed the collection with one of her key retailers, so it was fascinating listening to the commentary of the retailer who was understandably more interested in the practical aspects of the “ladies” – how can she be hemmed, how does she fit a more full figured bride, etc – than merely the fashion impact that we normally are drawn to. Most of Ms. Kuschel’s dresses are also cut in sizes ranging from 0 to 26 & can be customized prior to delivery to eliminate a great deal of the costly tailoring that many brides encounter. The highlights of the season in my humble opinion were “Belden” with her gently draped bustier bodice & multiple pick-ups to create some skirt interest & “Eureka” with her simple bustier bodice, full tulle skirt & a delicate jewel encrusted belt that could be one of the most beautiful dresses seen this entire season, while all the while being understated to the point of being overlooked by the less sophisticated bride. With creations like these, it’s only a matter of time until Ms. Kuschel needs to take over even more space in her Union Square building. This bridal atelier is seriously going places.

One Fabulous PhotoShoot

What a fun photo-shoot we had a few weeks ago! Not only was the setting beautiful, and the staff wonderful to work with, but we were able to shoot some images with these HUGE Clydesdale horses! Too much fun. Our model, Alex Harris, could not have been a better fit for this shoot, and the entire team that evening meshed well and accomplished so much. Alex featured a Lusan gown that is made of tulle and is truly breathtaking! Our photographer for the shoot was Reseth Oberg with Reseth Photography! She is a blast to work with and could not have done a better job of capturing the look we were going for! Reseth brought a great assistant along, Justin Voight, that also snapped some great shots and contributed to the whole photo shoot. If any brides are looking for a great place for a wedding or a reception the staff and facility at Express Clydesdales are amazing! You will truly be pleased with all they have to offer, check their website out and be sure to go visit the beautiful Clydesdale horses they have! We’re glad to hear that Jim Hjelm designer Francesca Pitera is keeping this great look going forward into next season’s phenomenal gowns. Mrs. Oklahoma Pageant

We would like to congratulate our personal friend and Meg Guess Couture model Heather Rouba on being awarded the title of Mrs. Oklahoma County! She is an amazing individual and as beautiful as she is on the outside; on the inside she is even more stunning!

Heather has been married to her husband, Yury, for almost 3 years and they have a beautiful daughter, Iliana, who is 18 months old. She holds a BFA degree in Interior Design with a minor in Art History and was awarded the Presidential Leadership Scholarship at UCO. Heather has modeled professionally for the past 11 years and has since invented a baby product called PaciPal which she sells locally while waiting for a patent. She is fluent in Spanish and studying Russian, is a jazz vocalist and does special event hair/makeup design. In her spare time, she enjoys volunteering in the local area and in her church, studying health and fitness, reading, travelling, latin dancing, watching old movies and spending time with her family. It is important to note that her platform is "Strengthening Marriage & Family" and she speaks on this topic regularly at functions and events. You can view her progress and follow along in her journey via her blog.

Heather will compete in the Mrs. Oklahoma pageant will be held in the Guthrie Scottish Rite Temple on April 17 - 18 2009. Tickets may be purchsed via the Mrs. Oklahoma America website. This pageant leads to Mrs. America, and finally Mrs. World.

ABOUT THE COLLECTION

Having gained recognition and praise for his sophisticated and striking designs on Bravo's first season of Project Runway, Austin Scarlett now wields his creative talent as the designer and creative director at the helm of KENNETH POOL.

Scarlett's designs evoke the drama and glamour of past eras while maintaining a thoroughly modern edge. "Bridal is a fabulous world where the spirit and craftsmanship of Haute Couture combine with the freshness of today's fashion," says Scarlett, "I've always loved the idea of devoting my full energy to creating a single magical moment where the bride is transformed into the breathtaking beauty of her dreams."

Before joining KENNETH POOL, Scarlett honed his design skills at New York's renowned Fashion Institute of Technology where he specialized in evening dress design and received a degree in fashion design. While attending school, he designed costumes for New York Theater. After graduation, Scarlett continued to explore his interests by working in the archive of the Museum at the Fashion Institute of Technology. This experience allowed him to study firsthand the techniques of the great couturiers and provided him with endless inspiration. In 2001, Scarlett headed to Hollywood to costume design for the studios of MGM and Paramount.

After a year on the West Coast, he grew to miss the artistic energy of New York and decided to return to the city. Scarlett appeared on the Bravo Channel's hit reality series Project Runway, where he instantly became a viewer favorite standing out among the other contestants for his extremely elegant yet wearable designs and personal charm.

KENNETH POOL is a New York based design house for luxury bridal and evening wear. The KENNETH POOL Collection was introduced two years ago and it quickly became one of bridal's most successful launches with its grand silhouettes and opulent embellishment.

Celebrating One Fine Year

This Saturday, December 13th marks the one year anniversary of the opening of the Meg Guess Couture Bridal & Boutique studio. As we look back over the last year we want to thank all of our brides and fellow vendors that supported us in our inaugural year in the retail arena. We have thoroughly enjoyed meeting our new neighbors in Midtown, Downtown and around Oklahoma City.

Further more, we are looking forward to a great new year ahead in 2009 and hope to capture the hearts of every bride that enters our doors. To help us achieve this, we have several new collections from bridal to maids, a new endeavor for the Meg Guess collection of going national with the brand next fall, and we have a new member of our family, Ms. Chelsea Traber. She is the MGC Studio Manager and has brought so much enthusiasm to our business. We know you will all love her just as much as we do!
