MGC's Gown Shopping Tips
Now, you're on the hunt for The Dress. Meg Guess Couture offers their advice to give you the advantage.
4 Things to Remember When Shopping for a Wedding Gown:
1. WHO TO BRING//Bring the people you absolutely need to make a decision. Those people should also understand what YOU are looking for and want to help you find YOUR gown.
2. BUDGET//Talk to any and all contributors and agree on a budget for your gown. Don't forget to consider if accessories [veil, sash, jewelry, etc] will also be included in the budget for your wedding day attire. Remember you will probably need additional alterations for a custom fit.
3. VENUE//Consider where your wedding is going to take place. Your venue can have a huge impact on the style of your gown.
4. TIMELINE//Couture bridal gowns take about 5-7 months to arrive. A rush may be added to an order for an additional and with approval from the designer. Meg Guess Couture often hosts a Sample Sale, with gowns that can be bought off the rack. Another thing to remember about ordering a new gown is alterations. This process can take up to 3 months.
Congratulations to all Brides-to-be! We can't wait to find you your gown!
With Love,
MGC

Introducing Meg's Best of the Best

Fabulous Filippa Scott Shoes!
So you have your dress, you have your veil, and you have your jewelry. Now what about those shoes? We’ve received our fun and flirty 2010 collection from Filippa Scott and our brides love them. Each shoe in the collection is made from the finest natural materials - silk and leather - and can be dyed to the color of your choosing. Having a little pop of color is a big trend right now, so perhaps you’ll want to dye them a gorgeous shade of royal blue for your “something blue,” fuchsia for that pop of girly glamour, or a color that matches your bridesmaids. You may even want to keep them white for your wedding and have them dyed afterwards to pair with a favorite dress. Whatever option you choose, you’ll look fabulous in a pair of these shoes!

Spring Trends in Bridesmaids Dresses | One Shoulder
Last week we covered the new “bold shoulder” trend in bridal gowns for spring. Bridesmaids’ dresses are following suit. One shouldered bridesmaids dresses are a great look for the season. This fresh silhouette is not only modern but also offers more coverage for the bridesmaid that might be a bit more modest. Try one of our great Butter by Nadia dresses (pictured). These dresses can be worn an endless number of ways including this great one shouldered version!

Spring Trends in Bridesmaids Dresses | Defined Waistlines
Last week we talked about the newest & hottest trends for bridal gowns going into spring. This week we are taking a look at the new trends for bridesmaids’ dresses. Forget those awful, puffy dresses that used to be a staple at every wedding (we all remember the heinous bridesmaids' dresses in the movie 27 Dresses, right?). These days, brides want their maids to look as good as they do (well, almost as good!). Bridesmaids’ dresses are more fashion-forward than ever. Believe it or not, many of today’s dresses can actually be worn again! The first trend all over the runways is a defined waistline. Banded and belted waists are a great trend for this spring. This is a great silhouette for your bridesmaids that need a little definition to their waists and like to show off their great, feminine shape. Overall this is a great, universal silhouette that looks good on different body types. We have just received really sweet bridesmaid dresses with this great banded detail. Book your appointment to see these great dresses and check one more thing off of your list!

The 5 Hottest Spring Trends | Origami Details

East meets west in our final trend report of this week. Sharp, architectural details marry beautifully with soft bubble hems and luxurious fabrics this spring. The details of this trend are small, so look for subtle hints of an origami design on dresses with obi belts, sharply layered necklines and modified petal busts. The look is very sharp, clean and usually with a simplistic silhouette. We have great examples of dresses with this origami detail waiting for you in our studio!

The Hottest 5 Trends for Spring | Mermaid Silhouette

Our next hot trend for spring is the mermaid silhouette. In a nod to the vintage, old Hollywood feel, the mermaid gown is a modern take on a classic look. This is for the bride who has great curves she wants to show off but still wants the fullness of a ball gown. This is a look that adds drama and sophistication to a dress. We have beautiful gowns in our studio that offer this marriage of vintage sophistication and modern glamour. If you’re a bride that is interested in this look, give us a call to set your appointment and we will help you find that perfect look!

The 5 Hottest Spring Trends | Bold Shoulders

No not the 80’s giant, puffy sleeves. Let’s hope that look NEVER comes back. We’re talking about the great new one-shouldered dresses and the dresses with illusion straps that we saw all over the runways. Many of the one-shouldered designs incorporate a romantic texture, which we talked about in yesterday’s trend report. The illusion strapped dresses feature soft chiffon or tulle straps, some with delicate beadwork and others with soft, billowy ruffles. If you’re a fashion forward bride, ditch the strapless dress and instead opt for a dress with a detailed shoulder!

The 5 Hottest Spring Trends | Texture

This week we are covering the 5 hottest trends for bridal gowns this spring. Today is the second day of our trend forecast and the topic is texture, texture and more texture!
The hottest gowns for spring offer up a heavy dose of romance. From dreamy chiffon to romantic organza and soft tulle, this trend appeals to the goddess in all of us. These fabrics dominated the New York runways this season and have been paired with delicate layers and cascading ruffles to deliver a feeling of ethereal beauty.
When choosing a dress with texture you want to keep the details confined to either the bodice or the skirt. Heavy or ornate details and textures on the skirt should always be balanced with a more simplistic bodice and vice versa. You also want to make sure you choose a dress you can wear, as opposed to a dress that is wearing you. The perfect wedding gown should enhance your existing beauty and not steal the spotlight away from you. Keep these things in mind when selecting your gown and you are sure to walk away with your perfect dress! We have received some amazing gowns this week and our brides are loving them. Don’t wait to find your dress! Appointments are filling up fast as wedding season heats up. We look forward to seeing you soon!
